QuickStart
Let your agent drive Shift
Create a key, connect Claude (or any MCP client), then ask in plain words. Everything an agent does is limited by the key's scopes and recorded in your audit log.
Create an API key
Sign in, open Settings → API keys, and create a key with the scopes your agent needs and an expiry date. It is shown once: copy it into your shell.
export KEY=nr_shift_… export ORG=your-org-slugAdd it to Claude Code
One command registers Shift's MCP server with your key:
claude mcp add --transport http shift https://shift.nightroll.app/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer $KEY"Or connect claude.ai and Claude Desktop
No key needed: in Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste this URL. Claude opens Shift's consent page, where you pick the organization and what Claude may do, then approve.

Try these prompts:
- Invite alex@example.com and sam@example.com to our org as members
- Who is on call for Primary right now, and who's next?
- Acknowledge the open disk-space alert and add a note that I'm looking at it.
- Put me on call for Primary from Friday 18:00 to Monday 09:00 UTC.
The same thing over REST
Every MCP tool has a REST twin. Use the same key as a bearer token:
Invite two people
curl -X POST https://shift.nightroll.app/api/orgs/$ORG/invites \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $KEY" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"emails":["alex@example.com","sam@example.com"],"role":"member"}'List open alerts
curl https://shift.nightroll.app/api/v1/alerts -H "Authorization: Bearer $KEY"Acknowledge an alert
curl -X POST https://shift.nightroll.app/api/v1/alerts/ALERT_ID -H "Authorization: Bearer $KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"action":"acknowledge"}'Send a test event to a service (its integration key, not your API key)
curl -X POST https://shift.nightroll.app/v2/enqueue -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"routing_key":"INTEGRATION_KEY","event_action":"trigger","payload":{"summary":"Disk 90% full on db-1","source":"db-1","severity":"error"}}'
